Book binding

Forgot to put this up, this is some book binding I did a a while ago for this project, I like the idea of making my own books its more economical and its a lot nicer, but i dont want to use japanese book binding for my book, i just want to use good ol staples, like a magazine format.

Words of wisdom.

David Bailey offers the following kernels of wisdom for other creatives:

1. Trust your instincts.
2. Lead with an idea, not just a pretty picture.
3. Try not to take it too seriously.
4. Bring a smile to the viewer's face.

He has very varied skills, i really like his work I didnt know that he did the simian mobile disco cover with the spoons. nice pics

Wow

Stumbled upon this photographer http://eleanorhardwick.com/ only 14 years old but she has worked with Dazed and confused worked as an assistant and shes still doing her GCSE's. Her work is really nice, this is how i found out what Layer masking is.

All her photos are digital and shot with a 400d but she uses photoshop to get the vintage effect or a more film like appearance. Very talented girl with a very bight future.

Double exposure tips

Basically this is what I have learned from double exposing with a 35mm camera.

1. UNDEREXPOSE! this is really important, underexpose on the first time you shoot and on the second time. e.g if using 100iso film shoot at 200iso, 200iso use 400 etc.

2. Avoid shooting dark blacks or bright whites.

3. First time shoot darker things avoid flash, shooting at night is good.

4. Second time still underexpose but can use flash avoid shooting bright skies.

5. When the film is finished try and leave a bit of film sticking out so you can shoot over it a second time.

arrgh!

Another change of idea, I have gotten really bored of this project we have to long to do it, and I have lost motivation, I am really looking forward to the live projects from january onwards, Im looking forward to doing something that has a purpose. Anyway I was determined to do photography, now that I learned how to use layer masking, I want to manipulate the photos i have collected and put them together in a book. I want to learn more of photoshop and how i can manipulate images. I have collected images from the my summer although I lost 9gb of them! Also the photos from the double exposure i have been doing. I want to make a visual magazine/book filled with photos. So its developed from a collection of things that no one wanted to, then moved on to double exposure now its a collection of photos and manipulated images.

layer masking.

Learned about all the trickery that I was amazed by. Such as lei wei. Well its all to do with layer masking and good lighting.

Screen prints!

Some screen prints I did of a water melon, wanted to use learn how to use vernon streets equipment. If any one wants one ask me there is only 10 of em though!

Being creative is like taking a dump.

When you want to have a poo you cant force it, its hard. You have to keep on collecting food in order to feel the need to poo, and when you need to go you go. Just like being creative whether you paint, draw or write, if you try to force it out of your head, its going to be difficult, nothing might come out or maybe its not a good enough idea, but if you constantly collect ideas and thoughts eventually you will find the need and want to create.

So is creative block = to constipation of the mind?
